Forbel is one of the top five citrus producers and exporters in Uruguay. Based in the city of Paysandú, the company has been operating since its foundation in 1986.

Since 2002, Forbel has proudly been a member of the former Univeg, later becoming a key partner of The Fruit Farm Group — a partnership that has strengthened our commitment to producing high-quality products and expanding our presence in global markets.

Over the past 35 years, Forbel has combined hard work, experience, and innovation, investing in the latest available citrus varieties as well as in production and post-harvest technology, striving to deliver consistent quality and competitive products for both domestic and international markets.
Key company
Our citrus production is concentrated in two farms covering more than 600 hectares, located within a 25 km radius of Paysandú.

The temperature and climate of this region are ideal for citrus production, allowing us to obtain fruit with excellent internal flavor, a perfect balance of sugar and acidity, and a well-balanced external color.

Forbel holds multiple certifications that guarantee the quality of its products and enforces strict conditions on its suppliers to ensure compliance with the required quality standards, as detailed in the Quality and Certifications section.

How we grow
Forbel has spent the last 30 years combining hard work, experience, and innovation, investing in the latest citrus varieties as well as in production and post-harvest technology, striving to achieve consistent quality and competitive products for both domestic and international markets.

Our strength lies in the comprehensive control of the entire value chain. From the careful selection of plants in our own nurseries and the responsible sourcing of water, to orchard production and packaging in our facilities, we deliver premium-quality citrus with full traceability and consistency for the most demanding markets.

Nursery
We cultivate our own plants, carefully selected based on emerging market varieties.

Water Supply
Forbel has its own water reserve called “Represa Chingolo,” a 280-hectare reservoir with a capacity of 7 million m³, ensuring the optimal development of our plantations.
Farms
We grow citrus on two farms totaling over 600 hectares, all within a 25 km radius of Paysandú.

Packing house & facilities
It features a 5,000 m² packing house with cold storage facilities and an office complex located in the city of Paysandú, offering services such as de-greening, quality selection, disinfection, protection, packaging, and cold storage.
